The Meteorite Mailing List

Meteorite Central has provided a meteorite mailing list for the purpose of providing a fast and efficient method to relay pertinant information regarding meteorites. The list is un-moderated ... meaning all email messages posted will go to all members almost instantly! While this is very beneficial, it means that the posts go to the list ~without proofing~ ; so the posts need to be related to meteorites and need to follow the policies listed below.

You may enter a privacy password below. This provides only mild security, but should prevent others from messing with your subscription. Do not use a valuable password as it will occasionally be emailed back to you in cleartext. If you choose not to enter a password, one will be automatically generated for you, and it will be sent to you once you've confirmed your subscription.

General List Policies (i.e. The Rules)

  1. 1. Posts need to relate in some way to meteorites.
  2. 2. Be courteous and professional at all times.
  3. 3. No Personal Attacks.
  4. 4. Do not post messages for someone else to the list.
  5. 5. Do not forward private messages to the list.
  6. 6. Please include the subject of the post in the email's 'Subject' line.
  7. 7. Send emails in text format, not HTML or Rich Text (these will be bounced).
  8. 8. Do not send emails with file attachments to the list; include a file link.
  9. 9. Make sure you can back up statements with facts and references.
  10. 10. Do not post "Test" emails to the list.
  11. 11. Advertising is not Free although members do get 2 free ads per year.
  12. 12. If you are posting a URL for a sale, include 'SALE' or 'AD' in the Subject line.
  13. 13. Bandito the neighborhood Wind Scorpion says 1 Ad per Week!

Upon subscribing you will be automatically emailed a one page guide on the use of the List, and how to perform certain list functions, such as getting help and un-subscribing. If you have any specific questions, feel free to send me an email as well.
